Alternator Brackets

When specifying accessories for our Ford Racing Performance Parts engine, the short water pump was chosen to optimize space for fan clearance. This pump would also accommodate a v-belt - which was a desirable option to keep the look and function simple.

We secured a v-belt pulley set from Street & Performance but required an alternator / alternator bracket. Dream Machines had sucessfully used a Japanese-style alternator in previous installations, and, given that the output requirements for the roadster would be low, we decided to go this route. It's smaller (see dwg. below) and lighter at about 8 lbs.

As for the bracket, after a location was chosen (lower passenger side), Dream Machines set out to custom fabricate a bracket system. I concur with John from Dream Machines about how much time you can spend "imagining" a bracket system where there is only empty space. He imagined something very cool. Check it out.

Part of the "imagining" process took place on this piece of material. Compare it to the finished main bracket below. The holes correspond to locations in the block. The multiple adjoining holes are located along the arc of the proposed alternator swing (for adjustment).

To secure the bottom of the alternator, Dream Machines fabricated the main lower bracket and appropriate spacers.

Here's the enitre system after polishing. Notice that the lower bracket is stabilized from the side also. Nice work.
